From Sept. 24-26, the TSA team at New York’s LaGuardia Airport (LGA) conducted special screening operations to support the New York Police Department and U.S. Secret Service in securing the city for the United Nations General Assembly and the visit by President Bush.
TSOs from LGA conducted screening operations at the Wall Street Heliport, West 30th Street Heliport, East 34th Street Heliport and 23rd Street Seaplane Ramp. On Sept. 25, LGA personnel supported Visual Intermodal Prevention and Response activities, led by the Federal Air Marshal Service, at Grand Central Station.
LGA FSD Doug Hofsass was on-site during heliport operations all three days and was present for the arrival and departure of President Bush. "Playing such a meaningful role in a security event of this magnitude helps strengthen our relationships across agency lines," Hofsass said. "This three-day operation really highlighted the flexibility and professionalism of our officers."
